I was raised on Bisquick biscuits. That yellow box was always in my pantry. I honestly didn't know there was any other way to make them. Then, in my junior high home ec class we made homemade biscuits, and I LOVED them. From that point on I was on a quest to find just the right fluffy, tender biscuit. Once I found this recipe (almost a decade after that class) I've stuck with it. Buttery, fluffy with just a little crumble to the crust. Yum. I know you're going to love them too!
Let's Get Started!
2 c. white flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 Tbsp. sugar
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. milk
3 Tbsp. melted margarine
Bake at 425 for 12-15 minutes
In a large bowl whisk together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Cut in shortening til its a pea-sized crumble. Add milk until dough pulls from sides. Put on floured surface and roll 1 inch thick. Use biscuit cutter (or drinking glass) to cut out biscuits.
Melt margarine and dip both sides of biscuit in butter. Place on baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until risen and lightly golden brown.
