I feel a little silly making this post, but I've learned that the way I grew up eating oatmeal is not how many people did - so here's how it's done.
And don't shy on the butter. If you can't handle the calories then you best move along.
Ingredients and Directions:
1 c. water
1/2. c. OLD FASHIONED oats (None of those quick oats, you hear?)
Cook ON THE STOVE in a pot on medium-high until it boiled down to a glob (about 5-6 minutes). Not a gooey slime. It's not done at that point, keep cooking. It needs to be a glob. (I really need to add pics - ha)
Add glob to bowl and serve with:
1 Tbsp. butter
2-4 Tbsp of milk (or cream) - how much you add depends on how thin you like your oatmeal.
1 Tbsp. of brown sugar
Super small dash of salt
Stir that all together and eat while hot. Super yummy.
