Chocolate Cake in a Mug (or Bowl)

Gooey deliciousness without the wait

*Adapted from Pioneer Women's Recipe


Ingredients:

  • 3 Tablespoons All-purpose Flour

  • 4 Tablespoons Sugar

  • 4 teaspoons Cocoa Powder

  • 1/4 teaspoon Baking Powder

  • Tiny Pinch Of Salt

  • 3 Tablespoons Milk

  • 3 Tablespoons Vegetable Oil

  • Splash Of Vanilla Extract

  • 3 Tablespoons Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (or leave out and make frosting below)

Directions:

  1. Into a 12-ounce microwave-safe mug (or cereal bowl), add the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.

  2. Stir with a fork.

  3. Add the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla and stir until smooth.

  4. Stir in the chocolate chips (or leave out if making frosting).

  5. Use a damp paper towel to wipe excess off the sides of the mug.

  6. Microwave for 90 seconds, then let the cake stand for 1 1/2 to 2 minutes before eating.

  7. Serve with sweetened whipped cream or vanilla ice cream (or just eat it on it's own)!

Single Serving Frosting Recipe:

  • 1 Tablespoon butter, melted

  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa powder

  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup, powdered sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. vanilla

  • 1 teaspoon milk


Melt butter in microwave-safe bowl. Add cocoa and use a fork to stir together until smooth. Add 1/2 c. of powdered sugar and vanilla and stir together. Taste. If too bitter, add 2 Tablespoons more of powdered sugar. If too thick, add one teaspoon of milk. Add more powdered sugar and/or milk, if needed, until your preferred taste and a smooth frosting texture.
