Jean's Last Minute Breadsticks

You'll need:

Water, sugar, salt, yeast, flour, garlic salt and parmesan cheese (parsley optional).


Directions:


Combine and stir until smooth:

  • 1 1/2 c. warm water

  • 2 tsp. sugar

  • 1/2 tsp. salt

  • 1 Tbsp (or 1 packet) of yeast

  • 1 cup white flour


Then add:

  • 2-3 more cups of white flour

Mix together and knead until smooth and stretchy.


In a separate bowl melted:

  • 1/4 c (or half cube) of butter


Get ready in the pan by:

  1. Pour melted butter in a glass 9x13 pan - Metal is fine. Glass just makes the bottoms crunchy :)

  2. Place dough on melted butter in pan.

  3. Stretch dough to reach the edges.

  4. Flip dough over, so buttery side is now up.

  5. Sprinkle generously with garlic salt and parmesan cheese (and parsley if you want it to look purdier).

  6. Use pizza cutter or knife to cut down the middle lengthwise (13 in wise)

  7. Cut other way to make one inch wide bread sticks. Will look something like this:

Don't be confused by the picture. You'll only be making ONE pan of breadsticks. This pic is just a double recipe portion.

Let rise on oven for as long as it takes the oven to preheat :) Bake at 375 for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.


Great along with for soups, stews pasta and salads.
