Linda Sue's Ranch Dressing

This is the real deal, people. The "homemade" ranch I grew up on was mayo, milk, and a ranch packet but this stuff... this stuff... is 100% from scratch and tastes just like "homemade" Hidden Valley ranch to me. Pretty awesome, huh?

I got this recipe from my darling friend, Chelsea. Her mom, Linda Sue Reeve, was known for it. And guess who gave her mom the recipe? Chelsea's aunt - also named Linda Sue Reeve (honestly, what are the odds)! With that adorable coincidence, I naturally needed to call this Linda Sue's Ranch Dressing. I have a sneaking suspicion that this is going to become a family staple. Thanks, Linda (and Linda)!

Some things to keep in mind that may affect the flavor. Chelsea uses Hellmann's mayo ONLY, real buttermilk (not the powdered kind), and table salt (not sea salt). Feel free to experiment with variations if you want, but I've found when I try to recreate someone else's dish that what brand of ingredients they use can make such a difference in getting mine to taste the same! For instance, did you know that table salt is a bit "saltier" than sea salt? So, if you sub with sea salt, you might need to add a little more to get the same flavor.

Let's Get Started!

Ingredients:

This is 1/4 of the original recipe (see below)

• 1 c. buttermilk

• 1 c. Hellmann's mayo

• 1/2 tsp onion powder

• 1/2 tsp accent seasoning

• 1/2 Tbsp (1 1/2 tsp) of dried parsley flakes

• Just under 1/4 tsp. black pepper

• 1/2 tsp plus 1/8 tsp salt (or a slightly heaping 1/2 tsp) of table salt

Directions:

1. Mix all ingredients together in a bowl with a wire whisk.

2. Chill and serve with veggies, pizza, wings... whatever needs some ranch!
